Some things to consider as the days get hotter and longer:
Move and rest accordingly
-
Exercise in the morning or evening when the sun is lower and it is a bit cooler.
-
If possible rest and void exertion between 10-2pm.
-
Wake up earlier.
Hydrate
-
Water is best – avoid with ice cubes, cool from the tap is great! You can accent your water with cucumbers, hibiscus, lemon or lime, rosemary and mint to help replenish and refresh
-
Coconut water is a great alternative
-
Coffee and alcohol are heating and dehydrating
Eat well
-
Implementing more cool and raw foods may be a good option IF your digestion and immunity is strong
-
Steer clear of red meats, overly cooked vegetables, and heavy carb-loaded meals, as they will produce large amounts of heat that are better suited for fall and winter, not summer. Also, only enjoy smoothies and ice cream in very small amounts.
-
enjoy water-filled fruits and vegetables, like melons, celery, cucumbers, peaches, asparagus, berries, artichoke, and lettuce
